Our poor charlie boy :(
So Charlie has had a lump on his throat for about 5 months. It has been pea sized for the entire time. The vets looked at it and said it was not threatening or anything so we decided to leave it. Well this saturday (on my birthday) we woke up and it was swollen about softball size and taking up his entire throat. Sunday, it turned red and bloody. At this point I thought it was an abscess and called the vet. Scheduled to bring him in tuesday morning. when we got their they said it was a cyst and needed to be removed that day, so he went into surgery.
During the surgery they found that it was growing on his main artery. So they had to cut his artery, remove the cyst, and reattach the artery. This also means a simple surgery, and only a 1 inch incision, turned into a complex deal and about an 8 inch incision.
We picked him up at 7pm and he was a mess. All bandaged up and bleeding. We panicked when we got him home because he was bleeding a lot more than expected. We stayed up almost all night watching him, and today I didn't go to work and just spent the day caring for him. He's doing a lot better now, but still bleeding every now and then and we can tell he's in some pain.
Recovery is expected to take 2-4 weeks. I cried myself to sleep last night because I was so worried. He's our baby boy and I feel so bad seeing him like this. :(

Dream Vacation- Dubai- United Arab Emirates
I was googling tonight and found the most magical place in the entire world! Dubai! I've never even heard of it before, but it seems incredible. It is definately a must do in my life time. Hopefully in the next 10 years! Who cares if it's right next door to Iraq and Iran? It'd be the adventure of a lifetime!
Now I just have to convince Jeff it's a good idea... it'll be about 6K ouch! But the currency exchange is fantastic. 1 UAE is 27 cents here!

Home decor and Halloween decorations
I haven't posted on the blog since we updated our apartment and got new furniture. We also decorated for halloween!
For all of those looking for a great way to display wedding pictures. This is what we did. We have three colored, two black and white and two sepia tone prints in brown frames and mixed it up with some shelves and candles. It doesn't look like a "shrine" at all and everyone that comes to our place has complimented us on it.
Pardon our pumpkin carvin mess. This is our "dining room" even though we don't have a kitchen table yet. The zombie guy is by far our favorite decoration. The china hutch in the corner was custom made for my grand-mother and passed down to me by my mother.

Our new addition!
Pumpkin Carving
Tonight we carved our pumpkins! We still have two more to carve (for our dog and my job) but we were pumpkined out for the night after doing four.
From left to right; I made a puking pumpkin, Jeff made a cat claw pumpkin for Zoey (her name is on the back), Jeff made a freaky pumpkin he saw on the movie "trick-r-treat", and I made a paw print pumpkin for Lili (her name is on the back).

Homes and Horses
Now that we have found a program that will allow us to buy a home we have been looking at our options and trying to find the style of home we want. We want a cottage, victorian, or ranch home with lots of character. We aren't into the cracker-jack box type houses and are two feet apart and all look the same.
We are also considering one day adopting a horse (I'm getting into horse lessons this upcoming spring) so we would love something with a horse stall and a little land. We are looking at Longmont, Hygiene, and Gunbarrel.
I was driving today and saw the most beautiful horse. This is my dream horse! Absolutey gorgeous!
But I also love these Gypsy Vanners!Sunday, October 18, 2009
Movie Review- Paranormal Activity
I saw this movie last week with my hubby and Sister in law. It was horrifying. Starts slow but really picks up and ends with a shocker. SIL ran out of the theater and we were all creeped out for the rest of the night. Also, I wouldn't suggest going to a creepy cemetary after you see this one, it didn't help our state of mind.
2 thumbs up! You gotta check it out!
Haunted House Reviews
Fritzlers Corn Maze- Gilcrest
http://www.fritzlermaze.com/index.html
Jeff and I go to this one every year. It is up hwy 85 in Gilcrest and it's so fun! $20 dollars for a corn maze, haunted house (scream acres), the "creature" haunted house, a 3-d haunted house, pedal karts, jumping pillow, and pumpkin/corn canons. I give it 5 stars!
13th Floor Haunted House- Denver
http://www.13thfloorhauntedhouse.com/
We went to this one for the first time this year. It was a fairly creepy and unique haunted house will real snakes and rats (behind glass walls) but not sure if it was worth the 4 hour wait. We got there at 8:30 and didn't walk in until 12:30am. If you are going to go to this one, I highly suggest you buy VIP passes!

For those looking to buy a home! MUST READ!
For all of those who thought they could never own a home or would rent forever, you must check this out!
The program is called NACA and it was introduced to me by my manager at work. They help you buy a home based on income and job stability, not credit score. They finance you for a home you can actually afford, instead of getting you screwed into a loan that you will default on. Their goal is to sustain neighborhoods and end foreclosure!
The current interest rate is 4.5% with nothing down, no closing costs, and no buy ins. If you do buy in, your interest rate goes down significantly. They offer 30 year fixed loans.
To start, go to the website and sign up for a seminar. Read up, use the calculators to find out what kind of home you can afford!

Jeff and I are going to a seminar this December. Hopefully by May we will own a home!

Wally found a home! Now Bronx needs your help!
Thanks to everyone that helped find Wally a home. He now lives with a wonderful family that will surely love him forever.
Now Bronx needs to find a loving family! Bronx is a 1 1/2 year old English Lab/Border Collie mix He is so sweet! We are surprised that he hasn't been adopted sooner. He is mellow and loving and has the best disposition. He gets along greats with other dogs, children and seems to be great with cats from what we have seen as well. Also, we haven't heard him bark once!
He is about 70 lbs and just the sweetest boy ever, please help find him a home!
He can be seen at the Petsmart PetsHotel in Boulder Colorado.
Finally got my tattoo!
I have wanted this tattoo for about 2 years now. It is a band of human foot prints and dog paw prints going around my wrist. It hurt like hell! It looks fantastic though and I'm so glad I finally got it!
There's nothing like coming home to SWAT
This is how my husband and I spent our day yesterday. He was trapped in the apartment even though they had "evacuated" all the other buildings. I came home from work and talk to a police officer and before I knew it I was rushed into where the SWAT and national guard were. They told me my husband was safe "for now" and I flipped out. Jeff ended up running out of the apartment with the dogs and we ran to my car and left. Didn't come back home till about 2am this morning when it was all over... and I thoght I lived in a nice neighborhood...
This is about 4pm, Jeff took this picture from our bedroom window...

Man may have held 2 hostage
42-year-old arrested after standoff at Longmont apartment

A Longmont man suspected of holding two women against their will and sexually assaulting them Friday night was arrested after a police standoff Saturday.
Cmdr. Tim Lewis said Jimmy Travis, 42, could face two counts each of kidnapping, sexual assault, assault and felony menacing.
Travis
A search of Travis’ apartment found a 150mm artillery shell and some percussion grenades that had been taped together. A 9mm pistol that Travis is believed to have had with him has not yet been found.
Lewis said Travis and the two women all knew each other and had been in his apartment Friday night at the Circle at Lakeshore apartment complex. Police believe that sometime during the night, he threatened both women and refused to let them leave the apartment, then assaulted them.
The women escaped the apartment Saturday and called police at about 1:17 p.m.
“They convinced him that they had some things they needed to do and that they would return,” Lewis said.
Instead, officers and detectives arrived at the apartment complex, where Travis was still holed up. The SWAT team was called at about 2 p.m. after police learned that the man had the gun, was on several medications and had post-traumatic stress disorder. Residents of several neighboring apartments were evacuated during the standoff and acquaintances of Travis warned police of the military ordinance inside.
After nearly four hours, Travis surrendered peaceably at 5:41 p.m. and was taken to the Boulder County Jail. As of 8:30 p.m., police were still searching his apartment.
